Sazi tzouras, also known as tambouras, is a long-necked traditional Greek lute of Byzantine origin. It has existed since at least the 10th century, when it was famous in Assyria and Egypt. Historically, it may have had from two to six strings. Contemporary instruments typically have six strings.
